MR or Emar, **Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)** system, is an imaging device that utilizes radio waves and magnets, as well as computer systems. MRI, which is used for the diagnosis of diseases or to control and monitor the treatment process, is widely preferred by doctors because it **does not contain radiation**. An MRI scan is a procedure requested by doctors to detect a condition they suspect in their patients. Since this is a detection-oriented scanning procedure, it should not be neglected by patients. Since MRI scanning is used intensively in our country, there may be difficulties in making appointments at most institutions. At Sonomed Medical Imaging Center, however, there is no delay in making an appointment or scheduling the scanning date. It is possible to enter the scan immediately after making an appointment. In situations such as detecting the presence of certain risky conditions, medical imaging procedures must be performed quickly so that treatment can be started immediately. We act with great sensitivity in this regard with the MRI device park available at our center and our service structure that enables fast results.

How is an MRI Scan Performed?
MRI scanning is an important technology that provides detailed images for the analysis of organs and tissues in our body. The machine has a somewhat large, tunnel-like design. Since it is a magnetic field, the patient is asked to remove all metal accessories and clothing during the scan. The duration of the MRI scan can vary between 15 and 45 minutes, depending on the procedure to be performed or the area to be scanned. During the scanning process, magnetic waves are sent to the patient’s body by the machine. As a result of the MRI scan, the images are transferred to the computer in cross-sections and left for the review of the **radiology specialist** doctor. The scanning process is performed with the patient lying down and remaining still. Patients are asked not to delay or neglect the MRI requests made by their treating doctors. In addition to the MRI examinations requested by the relevant doctors, patients can also have a **”Whole Body MRI”** scan for a general MRI screening of their entire body. This examination performs a general scan of the whole body. You can find detailed information about Whole Body MRI here.
