Scoliosis is the sideways curvature of the spine that can be seen in the thoracic or lumbar regions. In a normal and healthy spine, the vertebrae extend in a straight line from above when viewed from behind. In scoliosis, the vertebrae are displaced to the right or left, and at the same time, the spine rotates around its own axis.
Scoliosis is a disease that threatens the future of growing children. When the disease is detected early, a success of up to 100 percent is achieved in its treatment. However, the normal development of children is prevented if the spinal curvatures that cannot be diagnosed in time have progressed. In adulthood, lower back and back pain, heart and lung dysfunctions occur.
Scoliosis Symptoms:
* Inequality between hips and shoulder levels.
* Equality of the distance between the arms and the body and deterioration of the balance of the body.
* In children, feeling that one leg is longer as the head is tossed from one side to the other, and the body from one side to the other.
* Pulling a part of the girls’ skirts upwards.
* Asymmetry in the rib cage and a bump on one shoulder blade.
The diagnosis of scoliosis is determined by the X-ray of the entire spine and the clinical examination of the physician.
